Abdul Waheed Sheikh
Chairman
With more than five decades of entrepreneurial and leadership experience, Mr. Abdul Waheed is the founder and driving force behind Waheed Group of Companies (WGC). His remarkable business journey spans a diverse range of industries, including tea, real estate, jewellery, compressed natural gas (CNG), edible oils and Banaspati, as well as numerous trading and industrial ventures.
Beginning his entrepreneurial journey at a remarkably young age, Mr. Abdul Waheed entered the Tea business in 1971. His early success laid the foundation for a lifetime of enterprise and diversification. In 1982, he launched his own brand, Margina Tea, earning recognition within Pakistan's business community.
Building upon this success, he expanded into real estate and, in 1986, established Margina Town in Rawalpindi. His entrepreneurial interests continued to grow, and in 1992 he entered the jewellery business while simultaneously pioneering opportunities in Pakistan's emerging CNG sector. Through Kandaan Associates, he established one of the country's earliest private-sector CNG filling stations.
His leadership in the CNG industry was further strengthened when he secured exclusive distributorships for international CNG equipment brands, including Compare Wheel Compressor in 1994 and Stefflini CNG Kits in 1996.
Recognizing the potential of Pakistan's edible oil sector, Mr. Abdul Waheed entered the Cooking Oil and Banaspati trade in 1988 and subsequently established Waheed Hafeez Ghee Industries in 1993. This venture became the foundation for the Group's significant presence in Pakistan's edible oil and fats industry.
Over the years, under his leadership, the Group has introduced more than 71 brands across local and international markets and expanded into a diversified organization comprising 21 companies. His business philosophy—built around determination, integrity, teamwork, and long-term relationships—has been instrumental in transforming Waheed Group of Companies into a recognized name in Pakistan's business and industrial landscape.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Mr. Abdul Waheed has remained actively involved with leading chambers of commerce, trade associations, federations, and public and private-sector institutions, contributing his experience toward the development of Pakistan's business community.
